Try These 5 Remedies To Prevent Hair Fall This Monsoon

on
Monsoon season brings with it lush greenery and a much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat. But it also tends to aggravate our existing hair fall problems. If you’ve noticed more strands on your brush or pillow during the rainy season, you’re not alone.

Why Does Hair Fall Increase In Monsoon?

We generally lose 50-100 hair strands on average on a daily basis. However, due to nutritional deficiencies, the use of harsh haircare products or even hormonal changes, the amount of hair fall can increase leading to thinning and hair loss. During monsoon, the humidity levels are at an all-time high which makes our surroundings moist and damp, including our scalp. The damp environment combined with dirt and sweat creates the perfect atmosphere for the growth of yeast and bacteria, leading to scalp infections like dandruff.  This disrupts the natural pH balance of the scalp, depriving it of essential nutrients and weakening the hair roots, which eventually leads to hair fall. Additionally, your hair strands absorb excess moisture from the air during the monsoon, causing them to swell. This swelling weakens the hair structure, making it more prone to breakage and frizz.

5 Tips To Control Hair Fall In Monsoon

1. Nourish Your Scalp with Herbal Oils

One of the best ways to combat monsoon hair fall is by regularly applying a natural hair growth oil to nourish the scalp. Our Pahadi Rosemary Hair Oil is an ideal choice for monsoon as it has lightweight jojoba oil as the base. The oil is infused with leaves of Rosemary and Stinging Nettle to promote a healthy scalp environment for encouraging hair growth. Cold-pressed Kalonji Oil is another good option to manage hair fall and scalp infections. With its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, kalonji oil will improve scalp health to prevent premature graying of hair, restrict hair fall and promotes hair growth.

How to Use: Warm the oil slightly and massage it into your scalp using circular motions. Leave it on for at least an hour, or overnight for deep conditioning, before washing it off with a mild shampoo.

2. Treat With Bhringraj Hair Mask

Bhringraj, also known as the "King of Herbs" for hair, is a highly effective natural remedy to nourish your hair. It improves blood circulation to the scalp, ensuring your hair follicles can receive vital nutrients to increase hair growth and control hair fall. Bhringraj also helps reduce scalp infections and dandruff which are common during monsoon.

How to Use: Mix 1 tbsp Bhringraj Powder with yoghurt or fresh coconut milk to form a smooth paste. Apply it to your scalp and hair, leave it on for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. This mask will not only strengthen your hair but also add a natural shine to it

3. Use Neem For Healthy Scalp

If you have an itchy, dandruff-prone scalp, include neem powder or neem oil in your monsoon hair care routine. Neem is renowned for its powerful antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent remedy for tackling an itchy scalp and promoting a healthy environment for hair growth.

How To Use: Mix 1 tbsp Neem Powder with water to form a paste. Apply it to your scalp and hair, leave it on for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.  You can also make a DIY hair oil blend by adding a few drops of Cold-pressed Neem Oil to a carrier oil like almond or jojoba oil. Massage it into the scalp and rinse with shampoo after 30-45 minutes.

4. Try Rosemary Water Rinse

Rosemary water is an easy, effective remedy for all your monsoon-related hair issues such as dandruff, itchy scalp and hair fall due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. You can either use our Rosemary Hydrosol as scalp mist or make DIY rosemary water at home with our Pahadi Rosemary leaves.

How To Use: Add 2 tablespoons of Rosemary leaves with some fresh curry leaves in water. Boil the water and leave it aside for 3-4 hours for infusion. Strain the mix and store it in a bottle. Pour it all over your hair as the last rinse after using shampoo and conditioner.

5. Maintain Healthy Scalp Hygiene

Rainwater can disrupt the natural pH balance of the scalp and leave behind dirt and residue, which can damage your hair. So always try to keep your hair dry with the help of an umbrella or a raincoat when you step out in the rain. If your hair does get wet in the rain, rinse it with water as soon as you can to remove the acidic residue and dirt from your scalp. Reducing hair fall in monsoon is all about nurturing your hair with the right ingredients. Use Vriksha Veda’s range of pure herbs and oils to combat monsoon-related hair fall naturally.
